Fall Favorites: September Shopping Roundup

As September draws to a close, most of us are in full Autumn-wardrobe planning mode!

Despite the balmy temperatures in Philadelphia, I find myself yearning for sweaters in burgundy and mustard hues, and stocking up on tights, warm skirts, and winter-appropriate booties! For those of us who live in areas that see chilly weather, dressing as a pinup can prove difficult as temperatures drop. Slush, sludge, and freezing temps mean that swingy skirts feel less-than-appealing, but maintaining your gorgeous pinup aesthetic doesn’t have to be pushed into the closet until Spring returns!

I present to you my current favorite picks for the beginning of Fall!

  1. Lindy Bop Maybelle in CaramelLindyBopMaybelle

I recently reviewed the Marianne Swing Dress in Raspberry Β from Lindybop’s A/W17 collection, and it passed the Warning:Curves Ahead test with flying colors. Affordable, comfortable, and well-constructed, it was an easy dress to wear and even easier to love. Now, meet Maybelle, Marianne’s sassier little sister! The wiggle version of this gorgeous frock is everything I want in fall fashion with it’s thick, warm fabric and matching jacket! Maybelle is available in eight stunning shades, but this lush caramel has stolen the show (and my heart). BONUS: It’s on sale now in four colors for a mere $35.00, and still available in sizes M-4XL! Get yours here.

2. Miss Candyfloss Thilde-Bo Swing Coat

When Miss Candyfloss dropped images from their A/W17 collection, the retro-community took a collective gasp. Embodying a glamorous private detective vibe, the entire collection is all tartan and buttons and sleek, oversized collars. A clear stand-out piece from Miss Candyfloss’s newest offerings is the Thilde-Bo Swing Coat: and I am obsessed. The wide shawl collar, classic button front and waist-cinching belt have me dreaming of black and white movies, Β and the wide pleated bottom (perfect for your fullest of skirts!) is just begging for a twirl. This is definitely an investment piece, with an MSRP of around $197, but with Miss Candyfloss’s incredible quality and solid design, this coat is sure to keep you cozy for years to come!

3. Clementine Cropped Cardi from A Classic Paradise

We all know that it’s just not Autumn without a slew of cropped cardigans to cozy up in when the temperatures start to drop! A Classic Paradise has a wide variety of colors and sizes in these retro-famous cropped cardigans. Want to extend your summer wardrobe a little longer? Slip one of these beauties over your short sleeved dresses for a bit of layering magic. And at around $20-$24 a piece, they’re a fabulous way to build up your fall clothing stash without breaking the bank!

4. Marjorie Grey Floral Jacket by Voodoo Vixen

It may seem silly to feature not one, but two coats on an early-fall roundup, but hear me out. I recently got my hands on this gorgeous jacket from Voodoo Vixen’s A/W17 collection (review coming soon!), and have fallen truly-madly-deeply for it’s quirky, floral charm. Marjorie is a mid-weight jacket with double breasted buttons, a wide Trench-style collar, and a thick belt at the waist. It features a grey fabric with embroidered floral motif, and is a fun and unexpected foray from the typical dark shades of autumn and winter clothing! While it isn’t a wildly heavy jacket, it is fully lined and I think it will layer beautifully during the sometimes finicky weather that is my East Coast winter. With an MSRP of around $119, it’s a more mid-priced option for those of us who desire quality on a budget!

5. Literally All The Shoes by Bait Footwear

To be quite frank, dear readers, shopping for shoes it the bane of my very existence. I have wide feet, impossibly high arches, and an injured ankle that prohibits wearing heels over 3″. Years of working on my feet in terrible shoes have left my poor tootsies worse for wear and horribly finicky. On top of everything, searching for shoes that are both pretty and practical for chillier days feels damn near impossible!Β  Enter: Bait Footwear. They’re practically a household name in every pinup’s home, and are known for offering gorgeous retro-inspired footwear that’s low-heeled, comfy, and oh-so-sweet. As I browsed their site, I realized that it’s nearly impossible to choose just one favorite from their Autumn/Winter offerings! Each shoe is of a reasonable height for my grumpy ankle, and with colors like cranberry, and mulberry, they invoke feelings of apple spice bliss, pumpkin picking, warm cider, and the coziness that autumn brings! You can find some of my favorites (show above) here: Emmie in Mulberry, Regan in Gray,Β Carter in Cranberry, and Hermosa in Mulberry!

There you have it, ladies. It was nearly impossible to narrow down my September Round Up to only five: the list could truly go on and on! Love something that I missed? Have a favorite you want to shout out loud about? Sound off in the comments below!
